If 2017 was the year when the esports industry started to dream about how great franchising might be, 2018 was the year when that dream became a reality.
And while it’s definitely too early to tell whether teams who’ve bought spots in the Overwatch League and the NA LCS will see a return on their investment, it’s easy to see all of the ways that franchising has had a positive impact on esports throughout 2018.
