#5: Doublelift. Doublelift definitely doesn’t have much experience in the promotion tournament but what he lacked in experience he made up for in dominance. After taking a split off from TSM, DL joined TL late in the spring split to help them avoid relegation… and that’s exactly what he did. They 3-1’d Eunited in the first round before taking Gold Coin United all the way to a do or die game 5. Aided by the best North American ADC, TL won game 5 and booked their ticket to the 2017 Summer Split.

#4: Don’tMashMe. Don’t Mash Me has been a staple in the NA scene since the very beginning but in the later years he found himself stuck in the promotion tournament more often than not. After a successful split with GGU, Mash was with Team Coast as they fought back into the LCS in 2015 and 2016. After helping out Coast, he joined a brand new Team Impulse who qualified by beating down Apex. Unfortunately, his last memory as a promotion tournament veteran was a failure, as ADC of Gold Coin United.

#3: Cris. Cris is possibly the most experienced NA player when it comes to the promotion tournament. In 2013, he helped Velocity esports take down MRN for a spot in the Summer Split. He then helped Team Coast qualify for the LCS twice. All of that before getting Apex Gaming a brisk 3-0 over TDK in 2016. He may not have found LCS success but he had no problem dominating in Promotion tournaments.

#2: Hai. Hai didn’t get his start in the LCS, he fought his way into the spotlight with Quantic Gaming. They dominated the promo tournament before reforming into Cloud 9. After being on a dominant team for years, Hai took a backseat and moved to C9 challenger. But of course, Hai and his team had no issues in the challenger series. After winning the 2016 NACS Summer Playoffs, they re-qualified for the LCS after an easy 3-0 over NRG and got all the way to the LCS playoffs as FlyQuest.

#1: Alex Ich. One of the most legendary mid laners and following much success in Europe, he made his move to NA. Alex Ich also joined the newly formed Misfits, who renamed to Renegades, and along with LCS veteran Crumbzz, drove them into the NA Challenger series. Alex Ich then subbed in for TDK To help them take down Winterfox and get them into the Summer Split. Afterwards, Renegades brought Alex Ich back for the NACS season. They knocked off Team Coast 3-2 in the finals to auto qualify for the LCS.
