Orna: The GPS RPG Celebrates Its 8th Ornaversary by Letting Players Beat Up the Developers for Loot!

Eight years into its run, Northern Forge Studios is celebrating Orna’s anniversary in a grand manner. Orna: The GPS RPG is rolling out the annual Ornaversary event, but with a twist for its eighth year. They’re letting players beat up the actual developers for loot. Not metaphorically either!

Starting May 19th, Orna: The GPS RPG is kicking off its Ornaversary event. It’s turning members of the studio into World and Dungeon Bosses across Tiers 3 through 10. So, you can grind them for equipment based on the dev team’s personalities, habits, and apparently their daily suffering.

The event runs from May 19th to May 26th. The update basically makes the Northern Forge team the content. Every developer boss comes with unique gear drops that are supposed to shake up builds in weird ways.

Some of the items are exactly the kind of thing that sounds like a joke until you inevitably figure out broken strategies. Odie’s Wristwatch, dropped by studio founder Odie, is an off-hand item that doubles battle animation speed while also making players take double damage.

Another one, Purrly’s Cat Treats, cuts player Luck by 67%. It can randomly replace the battle background with a stretched-out image of Purrly’s real-life cat Trek.

Then there’s Dangy’s Alarm Clock, inspired by the developer’s brutal early morning meetings from an Australian timezone. It works as an off-hand shield that blocks the Sleep status effect and adds a Snooze ability that massively boosts defenses and magic for a short time.

These are only 3 examples out of 15 total developer boss and monster loot items during the event. The update is also dragging the dev team’s real-world pets into the game as animated followers.

There’s a Free Archpath battle pass, double end-of-dungeon rewards, boosted mechanical buffs, and a doubled worldwide chance to Godforge endgame gear. You can also collect and trade Ornaversary Tokens at the Event Hub during the event.
