Netflix is a Joke Presents: Gifted Is a Meme-Making Social Party Game

Netflix is once again trying to turn one of its big events into a way to get more people checking out its games, too. This time, it’s Netflix is a Joke Presents: Gifted, a new game that they used to promote the Netflix Is a Joke festival. Or maybe vice versa.

The game actually slipped into testing months ago. People spotted playtests last summer through the Netflix Games Playtest Server on Discord. The game dropped just ahead of the festival, and lets you play it on TVs and web browsers through Netflix Cloud Gaming.

Netflix is a Joke Presents: Gifted is an 18+ social party game. To play it on TV, you must download the free Netflix Game Controller app on your Android phone to use it as a gamepad. You can then use it to submit answers and vote on matchups.

Netflix is a Joke Presents: Gifted is all about GIFs

If you’ve ever played What Do You Meme?, Cards Against Humanity, or the Jackbox Party Packs, it will sound very familiar. Gifted revolves around GIFs. Lots of them.

There are classic internet staples like the This is Fine dog and Hide the Pain Harold showing up while you try to come up with the funniest possible responses. The game supports up to nine players in a lobby, and whoever gets crowned the funniest person in the room wins it all.

The first person to join automatically becomes the host. So, they can adjust game settings, skip intros, and start the match once everybody’s in. Local play requires at least three people before the game begins. The host can also mix online and couch co-op together.

Modes in Netflix is a Joke Presents: Gifted include single player, local multiplayer, online multiplayer, local co-op, and online co-op. But it doesn’t support offline play and cloud saves. Grab it here if you’re looking for a fun night with friends!
