30 May Mobile Gaming Google Play now has much stricter rules for loot boxes May 30, 2019 Posted by GataGames Leave a comment Google Play has enforced much stricter rules on games that feature loot box mechanics. Now, developers must clearly list the exact odds of getting each item out of a loot box before a purchase has been made. Google Play now requires apps to list the odds of getting random items and set a target audience This applies to any IAP that features some level of randomisation. Not all loot boxes are very clear about being loot boxes at all. Developers also have to set a target audience for their games. Any that are aimed at children have to follow family policies. Hopefully these stricter policies will slowly but surely push developers away from predatory practices like loot boxes.
