Crunchyroll Unveils First Original Mobile Title Bananya Buddies, a Cat-Collecting Game

Crunchyroll is adding something a little different to its Game Vault lineup with Bananya Buddies. It’s a new mobile game featuring the tiny banana-loving cats from the popular Japanese anime Bananya. The game marks the first original title released through Crunchyroll’s Original Game Publishing Initiative.

The game is being published by Crunchyroll and TMS Entertainment and developed by independent studio The MIX. Obviously, it arrives exclusively on Crunchyroll Game Vault for Crunchyroll Mega and Ultimate Fan members.

CrunchyrollBananya Buddies is all about collecting cats and decorating your space. Amidst all that, you check in throughout the day to see which Bananyas decide to stop by. Everything takes place on Banana Planet, where you get your first home and turn it into a place that attracts more of the strange little banana cats.

Every Bananya has its own personality and preferences. Some enjoy certain toys while ignoring others, and treats work the same way. Learning what each Bananya likes helps them stick around longer while increasing their Buddy Points.

CrunchyrollBananya Buddies also lets you improve those relationships further by reaching Best Buddies status, which unlocks a sleepover. There’s also a Best Buddies Forever status, which comes with a special surprise.

Daily activities revolve around tending gardens and harvesting fruit. You combine different harvests through a mix-and-merge system to create treats that Bananyas enjoy. You can sell extra inventory for money, which you can then spend during shopping trips at Meowtor Deliveries.

Crunchyroll has opened pre-registration for Bananya Buddies

The game is a cosy and charming experience. You can log in for just a few minutes to collect rewards and see new visitors or spend longer sessions decorating, collecting Bananyas, and improving friendships. You can pre-register for the game on the Google Play Store.

The game also marks the franchise’s 10th anniversary. Apart from this game, a new anime special will premiere at Anime Expo on July 4th before becoming available to stream on Crunchyroll starting July 9th. Until then, check out our scoop on Grabby Crab.
