Bischof is a venture capitalist and tech entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience. He also serves as a member of the advisory board for French esports organisation Team Vitality. According to the press release shared exclusively with Esports Insider, Bischof will support SONIX’s long-term strategy and global expansion using his operational, investment, and esports ecosystem insights. “We are honored to welcome Laurent to the SONIX Board,” said Nicolas Abelé, CEO of SONIX. “His deep understanding of esports, community dynamics and strategic growth will help us accelerate our vision of building the platform that gamers and creators choose to connect, compete, and win.” In addition to this, Bischof will also help the Switzerland-based company ‘unlock new forms of engagement and monetization’ for its users. “I’m excited to contribute to SONIX’s journey,” said Laurent Bischof. “The convergence of AI, real-time communication, and competitive gaming presents one of the most compelling opportunities in tech and Esports today. SONIX’s innovative approach to voice tech and community tools positions it as a leader in the space.” Prior to Bischof joining the Board of Directors, SONIX raised $2.2m (~£1.6m) in funding in April 2025 and launched a crowdfunding campaign as well. The company has also partnered with prominent esports organisations such as Karmine Corp and Wildcard Gaming. SONIX Aims to Solve Voice Latency With AI Image Credits: SONIX When it comes to playing multiplayer games, low voice latency is crucial to achieve the best possible results, especially at the professional level. Speaking with Esports Insider about the role of AI, Nicolas Abelé noted that players have so far relied mostly on TeamSpeak and Discord; however, the platforms have ‘not significantly improved audio latency or background noise reduction in years.’ He explained that building real-time audio technology is extremely challenging, adding that it took the team at SONIX over six years to create its ‘AI-powered audio solution.’ “In a few words, we have trained our own LLM and developed our own model specifically for gaming voice communication,” Abelé said. “On the network transmission side, our AI compensates in real time for packet loss and network variations, reducing the need for audio buffering — the main cause of latency. “On the audio side, our AI was trained on real gaming noise (keyboards, mouse clicks, LAN environments), allowing SONIX to eliminate background noise without degrading voice quality. The result is mindblowing: ultra-low-latency, crystal-clear voice that feels so natural,” he added. The CEO also highlighted that Rocket League teams using SONIX secured all three top positions at the 2025 CAGGTUS LAN event in Germany. “What is true for LAN play is also true for practice at home. The low latency makes it feel as if you are playing in the same room, while the noise cancellation removes keyboard noise and other distractions,” he elaborated. Apart from CAGGTUS, SONIX was also a communications partner at 2024 Gamevasion in Hannover, Germany. Source link Facebook Twitter Google Email Pinterest
