The Olympic Council of Asia has announced its ‘esports title selection task force’ for the 2026 edition of the Asian Games.

The task force will include three notable gaming and esports experts: VSPO chairman and co-founder Dino Ying, Sega’s Gideki Okamura, and Carlos Tang Jiahe.

The task force’s main job is to seek and select esports titles that will appear at the 20th Asian Games in 2026, but no further details were announced regarding the selection process.

The 19th edition of the Asian Games featured a wide roster of different games such as Arena of Valor, Dota 2, EA Sports FC, League of Legends, Street Fighter V, PUBG Mobile and Dream of the Three Kingdoms 2. All of these events were official medal sports for the Games, with this set to continue for its 2026 edition.

The 20th edition of the Games will be once again supported by the Asian Electronic Sports Federation, the region’s esports governing body.

Diny Ying, perhaps the most notable name in the task force, is known for being the Co-Founder of VSPO, one of Asia’s largest esports production companies. The company worked with the International Olympic Committee on the Olympic Esports Week in Singapore in 2023 and recently partnered with the Esports World Cup Foundation to support the Esports World Cup.

The 20th Asian Games are set to take place in the Nagoya and Aichi Prefecture in Japan across September and October 2026.

The International Olympic Committee has also made major moves to expand its esports efforts, with the creation of the inaugural Olympic Esports Games in Saudi Arabia. The Olympic Esports Games will take place in 2025.
