Acclaimed Metroidvania Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Is Out Now on Android

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the highly acclaimed metroidvania from developer ArtPlay, is out now on the Google Play Store for the princely sum of $9.99.

Published on mobile by NetEase, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a traditional metroidvania that’s highly reminiscent of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. That’s because its creator, Koji Igarashi, is a Konami alumnus who worked on the Castlevania series.

The gameplay sees you romping through a gothic castle in side-scrolling fashion, gradually opening up new areas as you acquire new powers and abilities.

There are 120 minions to slaughter, and several bosses too. When you kill a boss, you take their abilities, which allows you to access yet more bosses in a blood-soaked circle of joyous monster-murder.

You’ll find 107 weapons in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, as well as 23 skills and a wide variety of combos.

Many consider Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night to be the spiritial successor to the Castlevania series. That should be reason enough to pique your interest – though the $9.99 price tag is undoubtedly a hurdle.

You can download Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night on the Google Play Store now.
