Elsa Bloodstone is the newest hero to arrive in Marvel Rivals. Released in Season 6.5, Elsa is a Duelist who uses her monster-hunting arsenal to defeat her enemies.

Who is Elsa Bloodstone in Marvel Rivals?

In Marvel Rivals, Elsa Bloodstone has been hired by the Collector to hunt down rare creatures from across different realities. Elsa was partnered up with Deadpool, but she ends up having to hunt him down, too, when he goes rogue. Elsa’s general lore remains the same. She comes from a line of legendary monster hunters and uses the mystic Bloodgem to gain superhuman abilities.

Before we get into Elsa’s viability as a hero, let’s take a look at exactly what her abilities are. 

Base stats: 275 Health and 600 Movement Speed

Max Dash Duration: 0.28s
Max Dash Speed: 27.5m/s
Special Effect 1: Within 6s after using Helix Advance, the following Double-Barrel Blaster becomes Monster-Piercer.
Special Effect 2: Each use of Ruthless Pursuit and Helix Advance grants 40 bonus health.

Dash forward. Your next Double-Barrel Blaster becomes Monster-Piercer.

Special Effect 1: After an enemy is hit, the projectile splits into several bullets and traces enemies in range.

Tracing Range: 8m radius spherical spell field. 
Fire a Living Bullet round that splits upon impact, seeking nearby enemies and marking each with a Spectral Sigil. 
Special ability Ruthless Pursuit Bonus Health: Each use of Ruthless Pursuit and Helix
Advance grants 40 bonus health.
Max bonus health is 75.
Casting: Movement-based damage ability.

Follow-Up Stats: Damage: 30, Dash Speed 15 m/s, Max Damage Distance: 8m.
Dash forward, gaining Bonus Health and launching enemies hit. Follow up with a Double-Barrel Blaster shot that propels you backward and Slows enemies. 
Special ability Smoky Snare Cooldown: 12s

Special Effect 1: Trap becomes Invulnerable and Invisible after one second deployment.
Special Effect 2: The summon can be defeated to end the Immobilized state early.

Triggered Trap Damage: Causes 5 damage every 0.2s and lasts 1.2s. 
Launch a trap containing the monster Diablo. Once deployed, it becomes Invisible and Invulnerable. When an enemy triggers it, Diablo Immobilizes and Damages them.

Damage/Instinct Conversion Rate: 0.06

Special Effect 1: Instinct levels up when it reaches 100. This continues up to 3 levels.
Special Effect 2: For each level of Instinct gained, Helix Advance’s cooldown is reduced by 2 seconds. 
Dealing damage increases hunting Instinct. Defeating enemies caught by Smoky Snare grants additional Instinct.

Special Effect 2: The Glartrox can be recalled by Elsa at any time.
Special Effect 3: When the Glartrox collides with terrain, reaches maximum dash duration or returns, it bites to deal massive damage. The bite is not triggered if the Glartrox is defeated. 
Summon the Glartrox to charge forward. The Glartrox can be recalled to charge back toward Elsa.

Immediately after release, Elsa was thought to be far too overpowered. Clips on X showed her getting tons of kills with the Glartrox, leading players to feel she is broken. NetEase responded almost instantly, as they revealed an upcoming emergency patch that would include changes to Elsa’s ultimate to make her more balanced. 

Fans have already seen a lot of promise with Elsa and have compared her to Winter Soldier in terms of her skill kit and weaponry. Once the balance changes are made, she has great promise from a competitive perspective. She is also particularly fun to play thanks to her strong combination of abilities and her cool ultimate. As mentioned, in Marvel Rivals, Elsa Bloodstone’s role is a Duelist, and she could quickly become a favourite DPS for many players thanks to her fun kit and effective combo possibilities.
