Detective Game The Posthumous Investigation Lands on Mobile

The Posthumous Investigation is out on mobile, brought to players by Critical Leap and indie developer Mother Gaia Studio. The time-loop murder mystery is already available on PC and is popular because of its presentation.

You play as a private investigator whose client is, well… already dead.

The story takes place in a noir-ish version of 1937 Rio de Janeiro, where you get exactly one day to figure out who murdered an influential entrepreneur. The catch is that the day keeps resetting, so instead of getting more time, you basically get unlimited attempts to approach the same mystery differently.

Every loop lets you learn something new, and when everything resets, your knowledge comes with you. You’ll be watching fourteen different characters as they go through their daily routines, questioning them, figuring out what they’re hiding, and trying to work out who had a reason to want the entrepreneur dead.

You’ll wander through dirty alleys as well as the prettier, postcard-like parts of Rio, looking for notes, documents and other clues. Once you’ve collected enough evidence, you have to piece everything together and reconstruct the timeline.

You can use what you learned in one run to unlock paths you couldn’t access before, confront characters at different moments, and find holes in their alibis. You can also manipulate the suspects’ routines by watching their schedules and changing what they do. Then, you can even fast-forward time and predict important events before they happen.

The Posthumous Investigation also has a Thinking Board

There, you can keep track of the case and organize everything you’ve discovered. At the end of each loop, the victim waits for you in Limbo, helping you connect clues and reconstruct what actually happened. On that note, watch the trailer for the game below.

The Posthumous Investigation is available on the Google Play Store.
