There comes a day in our lives when we just stare at the sky for a long period, admiring the clouds. Some people like doing it way more than others, spending minutes or probably even hours doing so. If you’re one of them, Cloudgazer is for you.

It doesn’t have any grand quest, enemies trying to murder you, or explosions. You just look at the sky, watch the clouds drift around, and try to spot shapes hiding in them.

It’s more like a little digital version of those quieter moments where you’d just lie in the grass with a friend and stare upwards while making up shapes in the clouds. There’s even a friend in the game who occasionally talks about the shapes you find and reminisces about the simpler times. Your own character doesn’t have any dialogue, but your friend’s comments help give the game a nostalgic feeling.

Gameplay is pretty much point-and-click. You look at the sky and click on objects you think you can see hiding among the clouds. There are 250 unique objects to discover, ranging from animals and everyday objects to mythical creatures and weird surprises.

Cloudgazer uses a natural cloud simulation, so the skies are dynamic and every session can look different. There’s also a full day-night cycle, so you’ll get sunrises, sunsets, starry nights, and basically every colour the sky can throw at you.

You can just take your time trying to find the cloud shapes. It’s like training your pareidolia, which is just a fancy way of saying your brain’s ability to see familiar shapes in random stuff. How many things can you convince yourself are hiding up there?
