The Last Mission: Space TD Is an Auto-Battler and Space Battle Sim Out on Android

The Last Mission: Space TD is a new sci-fi strategy game. Actually, that would be a short intro to the game. The game also mixes tower defense with roguelike progression, auto-battler mechanics and space battle simulation.

Developed by Andreas Marks under the name amarks, a developer based in Switzerland, the game is about commanding a fleet of spacecraft and trying to hold off increasingly nasty waves of alien forces. Earth is under attack, and you need to defend it.

Aptly named The Last Mission: Space TD

You’re not directly flying around shooting aliens. A lot of the strategy happens before the actual battle starts. You build your fleet, pick your ships, equip them with different weapons and support systems, customise their loadouts and figure out where to position everything before sending them into battle.

You can unlock new ships, experiment with different ship classes, install devastating weapons and support modules, and put together different fleet setups. The tower defense side brings tactical placement and positioning, wave-based combat and enemies that keep getting tougher. There’s resource management involved too, along with progressive difficulty scaling.

As for the upgrades, you can unlock new weapons and ship systems, too. You can also combine upgrades to make stronger builds, improve your defensive setup over time and adapt to different alien enemy types.

The alien waves are endless, too. You’ll have different attack patterns, elite enemies and boss waves, with the difficulty continuing to increase the longer you survive. The procedural challenge flow gives the game plenty of replay value.

The Last Mission: Space TD supports offline gameplay. If you’re into stuff where tweaking your setup is basically half the fun, this looks like it’s going for exactly that. You can grab the game from the Google Play Store.
