Comedy Deduction Puzzle Adventure Lil’ Guardsman Launches on Android

Point-and-click puzzle adventure Lil’ Guardsman is now out on mobile. It was originally released in January 2024 for PC. Developed by Hilltop Studios, the weird little fantasy detective game is published by Plug In Digital on mobile.

Lil’ Guardsman is what happens when a 12-year-old kid gets stuck doing an important job

You play as Lil, short for Lilith, who’s only 12 years old and ends up covering her dad Hamish’s shift at the castle gate. That’s because he ditches work to make a bet on a goblinball game. She thinks it’ll just be a one-off thing, but it turns out she’s actually really good at the job, so she keeps getting pulled back into it.

Your job is deciding who gets into the fantasy kingdom of the Sprawl. You’re dealing with humans, elves, goblins, cyclopes, and over 100 different fully voiced characters. Some are harmless, some definitely aren’t, and it’s up to you to figure out who’s telling the truth.

Every visitor gives you three action points, and you have to decide how to spend them. You can question them, call one of three royal advisors to get their opinion, or pull out one of your five investigation tools.

Those tools run on power crystals, so you can’t spam them forever, although you can spend the gold you earn to upgrade them and get more uses. Later on, you can even arrest suspicious visitors instead of simply letting them in or turning them away.

Lil’ Guardsman has a cool mechanic called the Chronometer3000. It’s basically a time machine. Lil becomes its test subject, and it lets you rewind time to retry interactions if you think you messed something up. There’s a limit to how many retries you get, though.

Lil’ Guardsman is now available on the Google Play Store for $5.99.
