Townsfolk-Makers Open Pre-Registration for Dawnfolk on Android

Dawnfolk, the minimalist survival city-builder, is coming to mobile this summer. Short Circuit Studios and solo developer Darenn Keller have opened preregistration for Dawnfolk on Android. The game is launching on 3rd August 2026.

The game originally came out on PC in February 2025. It built a pretty strong reputation for itself due to its moody pixel art style and stripped-down strategy systems. The game focuses on experimenting and exploring different strategies

So, what’s going on in Dawnfolk?

The world has been swallowed by darkness after giant obsidian monoliths crashed down from the sky decades earlier. Civilisation is barely hanging on, and you take control of a ruler trying to rebuild what’s left.

Along the way, you meet Lueur, a mythical fiery companion that acts as your main source of light. Together, you slowly reclaim territory tile by tile. You gather resources, expand settlements, explore the map, and uncover weird mysteries, while keeping the light alive.

Dawnfolk blends large-scale city-building with smaller skill-based activities. There are mini-games inspired by farming sims and RPGs, and performing well in those challenges rewards bonus resources.

It includes both real-time and turn-based modes

You get them along with adjustable difficulty settings. The progression is intentionally fast, too. You can grow a tiny group of tents into a thriving city in under an hour without needing to learn overly complicated systems first.

Buildings influence evolving stories, while choices affect the people living in your city. It’s about balancing kindness and pragmatism while shaping the fate of your people in a world that’s trying to erase itself.

Take a look at the game below. And since pre-registration is now open, you can pre-register Dawnfolk on the Google Play Store.
