GTA 6 Was Supposed To Release Today

May 26, 2026–that was the day that Rockstar’s hugely anticipated open-world crime game GTA 6 was supposed to release. Today is that day, and the game is not available.

So, what happened? Rockstar delayed the game to November 19, 2026, and the game getting pushed should not have been a surprise. Rockstar originally slated GTA 6 for release in Fall 2025, so this was just the latest delay. Rockstar has a history of delaying every game it makes. 

When the May 26, 2026 date was announced, Rockstar said it hoped fans understood that Rockstar needed more time to “deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”

“With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and GTA 6 is no exception,” Rockstar said.

During a recent interview with David Senra, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick said GTA 6’s November 19 release date is “about 18 months behind the original date.” This appears to suggest that GTA 6 was originally lined up to launch around May 2025.

In any event, GTA 6 is now locked in for its November 19 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. PC fans will have to wait, as Rockstar has not yet announced a version of the game for PC, but history suggests it’s coming.
