Supercell Fully Acquires Merge Mansion Creator Metacore

Supercell, best known for The Clash of Clans, is acquiring Metacore’s Merge Mansion. And since that’s the only game in Metacore’s roster, it means buying out the entire company. Supercell intends to fold the game fully into its operations and run it as part of its live games portfolio, like Hay Day.

Actually, Supercell is already Metacore’s largest shareholder. It has a massive stake in the company after putting in €180m, along with earlier funding like €25 million in 2020. It later invested €150 million in 2021 to help scale things.

Unfortunately, Metacore hasn’t managed to launch any new games globally despite trying a bunch of stuff. They’ve soft-launched multiple merge puzzlers over the past few years, even tested a solitaire game with the grandma character.

They also picked up Everdale from Supercell in January 2023 with plans to revive it, and then 18 months later cancelled it anyway. So, Supercell is stepping in to focus everything on Merge Mansion and try to push it back up again.

Played Merge Mansion yet?

Merge Mansion dropped in 2020. It’s a match-and-merger mystery with an intriguing storyline. You follow Maddie and her grandmother, Ursula. You complete various tasks and unlock different areas in and around the Mansion.

Merge Mansion is still stable and has a loyal player base, but its growth has plateaued over the past few years. Since Supercell has been involved with the game for a few years now, it knows what went wrong. As of now, the actual terms of the acquisition haven’t been disclosed yet.

Only time will tell how much success this acquisition will bring for the merge-2 puzzler. Until the revamp arrives, you can try out the current version from the Google Play Store.
