New Fisch content arrives. Something’s changed in the Depths’ trendiest spot… there aren’t many trendy spots in The Depths, so the bar is pretty low. Still, what’s with all this Fisch Underground Music Venue Takeover stuff? Is it worth going all the way down there to find out? We’ve got all the details we’ve managed to dig up so far in one place.

What’s The Music Venue Takeover?

The latest Fisch update (2nd of May) announced a takeover of the Underground Music Venue, with new NPCs moved in, and as a result new rods available.

Who Are The New NPCs?

So, you might notice the new, limited edition arrivals at the venue. What have they got to offer? Time to run over each of them and their quests.

Axel

Speak to Axel to get the questline for the Acidgrinder Rod. You need to complete the following objectives.

• Catch a Tainted Brine Phantom.
• Catch a Brined Brine Sovereign.
• After this you should receive a Restricted Acidgrinder Rod.
• Catch an Acidic Caustic Starwyrm.
• Return to Axel to unlock the Acidgrinder completely.

BasePart

This fellow might look like a placeholder, but they do have a quest for you, to acquire the Part Rod. Part.

• Catch an Exploded Tyre.
• Catch a Part Rock.
• Catch a Part Blue Whale.
• Return to BasePart to get the Part Rod.

The Guide

Speak to The Guide to complete a questline to earn the Castbound Rod.
The questline is as follows.

• Perfectly catch 10 Shiny Flying Fish.
• After this, you will get a Restricted Castbound Rod, which can only be used in Shimmer.
• Use the Restricted Castbound Rod to perfectly catch 150 fish in Shimmer.
• After this the Castbound should get a buff, but is still Restricted.
• Finally, you’ll need to acquire the following fishing rods.

  • Ethereal Prison Rod
  • Flimsy Rod
  • Free Spirit Rod
  • Great Rod Of Oscar
  • Heaven’s Rod
  • Mythical Rod
  • Rod Of The Depths
  • Rod Of The Forgotten Fang
  • Ruinous Oath
  • Steady Rod
  • Tempest Rod
  • Trident Rod
  • Zeus Rod
• After that, you’ll get the full Castbound Rod.

Luneth

This slightly morbid individual likes two things, death and butterflies, and you’re going to have to get acquainted with both in the Remembrance Rod questline, which requires the following.

• Catch a Forgotten Orca.
• Catch a Glowy Penguin.
• Return to Luneth to receive Remembrance.
• Catch Butterflies. There will be a lot of them. About 180 in all, with various different mutations requested by Luneth.
• This will fully unlock Remembrance, and award you with the Butterfly Lantern.

When Does The Takeover End?

According to the update log on the Fisch Discord, the Music Venue Takeover is active for an ‘unknown limited time’, so it’s not clear when these strange individuals get evicted. Given some of the quests are pretty involved, we’d recommend getting stuck into them as soon as possible to avoid getting left in limbo with an incomplete endgame rod.

What Is The Underground Music Venue?

The Underground Music Venue is a (badly kept) secret area in Fisch where you can find limited-time rods. The catch is that all of them usually involve a pretty high-level quest from the NPCs that are hiding out in the venue, and you only have a short amount of time to complete them… but the reward is usually one of the best rods in the game.

Another kind of interesting quirk to the quests, especially this time around, is you often get the rod in question early on, but it’s a Restricted version that has some kind of major disadvantage imposed. You’ll need to progress further in the questlines to reach the rod’s full potential… which probably means more grinding.

How Do You Get To The Underground Music Venue?

Short answer? You can access the Underground Music Venue from Crystal Cove by placing a Chaotic Enchant Relic on a pedestal in the cove. When you do, a trapdoor around the coordinates 1350, -604, 2330 should open and give you access.

Though, if you read that and thought ‘Where on earth is Crystal Cove?’ let me give you the long version.

• From the overworld, find a whirlpool with a wispy light coming out of the top. Jump into it to travel to Vertigo.
• In Vertigo, fish the pool at the bottom of the pit until you find an item called a Depths Key.
• Got to the big door near the pool and hold up the Depths Key to enter The Depths.
• In The Depths, find the big statue of the crowned figure with relics around it. To your right when facing a statue, you should see what looks like a castle wall, with an archway at the end that appears to lead into a cliff. Make your way onto the top of the wall and head through the arch to enter Crystal Cove.
• Present a Chaotic Enchant Relic at the altar in Crystal Cove, as mentioned above.
