The Best Android Tower Defense Games – Updated!

After covering the best RTS games for Android and the best turn-based strategy games for Android, it feels fitting to write about the best Android tower defense games. So that’s what we’re doing.

The era of the tower defense game might have come and gone, but there are still some excellent and interesting games that fit into and around the genre available on the Play Store.

You can click on the names of the games below to download them from the Play Store, and if you think there are awesome TD games that we haven’t mentioned here, let us know in the comments.

The Best Android Tower Defense Games

On with the games…

Dungeons of the Endless: Apogee

This one meshes together ideas from the roguelite, the dungeon crawler, and the tower defense genre to create something intoxicating. It’s deep, it’s engaging, and you’ve got to wear a number of different hats as you play. Not literally.

Bloons TD 6

We’re in more traditional tower defense territory here. The Bloons series has been around for a good long while, and this version shows that it’s still got the chops.

Kingdom Rush Frontiers

It was hard to pick just one Kingdom Rush game to include in this list, but we’ve gone for Frontiers. It’s mix of towers, heroes and challenging levels is probably the best in the series.

Dungeon Warfare II

In this one, you’re building a dungeon filled with traps to try and keep explorers out. It’s got some neat ideas and there’s a cruelty to it that’s hard to dislike. Plus the graphics are ace.

2112TD

A sci-fi tower defense game that nods to the likes of Command and Conquer and StarCraft in its design. Beat back aliens with massive lasers and try and save the planet.

Dungeon Defense

A dungeon crawler run in reverse, Dungeon Defense is all about keeping those annoying adventuring parties out of your dungeon and away from your loot. Fortunately, you have all kinds of ghosts and goblins at your disposal to help you along.

Plants vs Zombies 2

We couldn’t really make a list of tower defense games without including a PvZ game. This is lane-based tower defense at its finest, and while it’s been about for a few years, it still gets updated.

Iron Marines

Alright, so this one made it onto the RTS list as well, but Iron Marines walks the line between the two genres so well it was hard not to include it. It’s more complex than most of the other games here, and all the more entertaining for that.

Path To Nowhere

Feel like running your own Suicide Squad? Path To Nowhere is a tower defense gacha where you make use of some of the city’s most irregular inmates to help you overcome deadly threats. Just don’t trust your squad too much.

UnderDark: Defense

Keep the fires burning bright against the darkness in this er, dark but endearing tower defense. It’s free to play, but its ads are purely optional, so you won’t be bombarded with eyesores every step of the way. It’s also designed to work one-handed, so perfect to waste time on the bus or train.

Rymdkapsel

Always best to finish things off with a hard-to-pronounce game. Rymdkapsel is a brilliant blend of RTS, TD, and puzzle, and it’s challenging enough to keep you playing for hours.

Defenchick

Aliens are coming to steal your chickens, and you’re not about to take that lying down. This is a premium offering, but reasonably priced. It doesn’t do anything particularly groundbreaking, but it’s solid, and it doesn’t have intrustive always-online demands.

Isle Of Arrows

This minimalistic-looking title combines elements of a board game, strategy game, roguelike, and a tower defence… to a completely cohesive whole. Use the cards available to you to place buildings and paths in your little floating settlement to repel potential invaders and secure resources for your people. The waves of attackers keep ramping up… how long until your city falls?

Infinitode 2

The TD genre distilled down to a frantic, endless assault from colourful shapes. Challenge yourself, or use the level editor to build and share maps with others. It’s free to play, but in a very fair way. No pay 2 win, and no forced ads. It’s also cross-platform.
