Our Town Hero – Cozy Retro RPG Brings Game Boy Color Vibes to Android!

If you like handheld-era RPGs, then there’s a new title on Android that might spark your interest. It’s called Our Town Hero – Cozy Retro RPG from indie developer Solohack3r Studios. The studio has previously released six retro RPGs on mobile, including Cult of the Dragon, Neopunk and Suramon.

The setup places you in an inn with no memory. You’re dropped into a quiet forest town that has more problems than it first appears. The locals think you’re the one who should help rebuild their home, their town.

It has fallen apart after an ancient vampire awakened and kidnapped the townsfolk. The abducted villagers include the barkeep, the innkeeper, the shopkeeper, and essentially everyone needed to keep a small settlement running.

With the town mostly lifeless at the start, the only way forward is to head into the Vampire’s Forest and bring people back. It’s a loop that repeats as the story moves through changing seasons.

Our Town Hero – Cozy Retro RPG centres on the idea of time passing. It starts in winter when the town is bleak and most businesses stand closed. As you progress through winter, spring, summer, fall, and a fifth season, the weather, decorations, and general atmosphere keep changing as well.

The retro presentation extends to MIDI-style music, turn-based battles, and wide maps filled with harvestable resources. Catch a glimpse of the game right here!

Each rescued villager changes the social landscape. They open up opportunities to train abilities, rebuild shops, and watch the town slowly return to life by year’s end. Character creation lets you choose your protagonist, pick a name, and even decide the names of the town and kingdom you wake up in.

Our Town Hero – Cozy Retro RPG is now available on the Google Play Store for $2.99. It comes with zero ads and in-app purchases, can be played completely offline, and supports gamepads and external keyboards.
