Among Us Wins a Golden Joystick Breakthrough Award Two Years After Launching

Among Us, the asymmetric multiplayer deduction game that became a sensation this year thanks to Twitch, has scooped a Golden Joystick Breakthrough Award – two and a half years after it first launched.

Developed by Innersloth, Among Us sees you playing as either a Crewmate or an Impostor in a space station. The aim is to carry out maintenance and identify the imposter if you’re the former, and to break stuff and kill people if you’re the latter.

After a couple of years of relative obscurity, Among Us became such a runaway hit this year that Innersloth cancelled a planned sequel to support the original. The latest update added anonymous voting, among other things.

The Mobile Game of the Year award went to Lego Builder’s Journey, an Apple-exclusive narrative puzzler that previously went by the name Lego Arthouse.

You can download Among Us for free right now on the Google Play Store.
