28 Jun Mobile Gaming Android Gaming Headlines and Updates: Don’t Starve, Apex Legends, Juicy Realm, and More June 28, 2020 Posted by GataGames Leave a comment If you read the Saturday companion piece to this article, which covers new Android games and sales, you’ll know it’s a cracking week in the world of mobile gaming. The best headlines of the last seven days confirm it, with news on Don’t Starve, TMNT, Pokemon, and more huge and popular franchises. Meanwhile Minecraft has had one of its seminal updates, and the newly released Juicy Realm has got not just a massive update but a sale too. Whew! Headlines Despite being completely insane on every level, the TMNT frachise has been going strong for three decades. The next item on the subterranean reptilian agenda is TMNT: Mutant Madness, a free-to-play gacha RPG. It doesn’t sound very bodacious, but we’ll see in September. There’s a new Don’t Starve game on the way, and it’s not being developed by Klei. Instead it’s being made by Shengqu Games and published by its parent company Tencent. It’ll have social features, and the closed beta is coming in July for players in the US and Canada. Tencent again, this time in connection with a new Pokemon game, called Pokemon Unite. It’s a MOBA-style 5v5 battler developed by TiMi, the Tencent subsidiary that made the award-winning Call of Duty: Mobile. Apex Legends, EA’s contribution to the battle royale genre popularised by PUBG, and then super-popularised by Fortnite, is coming to Android this year in soft-launch. Adventure Time is one of the most promiscuous cartoon franchises in terms of video game parts, with a growing stack of mostly mediocre interactive spin-offs to its name. Adventure Time Heroes, a turn-based RPG, is the next one on the horizon. Updates Juicy Realm only made the jump to Android a few weeks ago, but it’s already received a game-changing update, which adds cross-platform co-op multiplayer to the fruit-blasting gameplay. Plus, it’s on sale. Woohoo! The long-awaited Nether update has come to Minecraft, and it’s another fairly radical improvement, adding new mobs, blocks, biomes, and the ability to upgrade your diamond gear with netherite, making it even more powerful.
