Best New Android Games and Sales: Pascal’s Wager, Golf on Mars, The Room, and More

After a few weeks of drought, this has been an exceptional seven days for new releases, with two anticipated Square Enix titles, the awesome Souls-like Pascal’s Wager, and the FTL-esque Crying Suns all adding to the stock of fun and adventure on the Google Play Store.

There are some brilliant sales, too, including the Kingdom Rush, Room, and Goat Simulator games, and more. Enjoy!

New Games

Romancing SaGa Re;univerSe is a free-to-play gacha RPG from Square Enix with polished presentation and a neat retro aesthetic. Also, it’s the first SaGa game on mobile that doesn’t cost a bomb.

Crying Suns, from Humble Bundle, is a space roguelike along the lines of FTL. It’s much bigger and more ambitious, however, and a fully fleshed out story, deeper strategy, and and pixel-art sandworms.

Pokemon Cafe Mix is a matching puzzler in which you have to serve the various Pokemon that visit your cafe, while other Pokemon help you in the kitchen.

For centuries, Pascal’s Wager was exclusively a theological argument. Now it’s also a Dark Souls-esque gothic action-RPG. Released first on iOS, it’s now available on Android too – and at an introductory discount.

Rising Sushi might be the surprise hit of the week. This colorful casual game sees you picking sushi items off a conveyor belt and arranging them into a towering stack. It’s a bit like Tower Bloxx, if you can remember that far back.

The term Lovecraftian gets thrown around a lot, but The Innsmouth Case has a better claim to that status than most games. Innsmouth is the fictional town where H. P. Lovecraft set his horror stories, and this humorous interactive story fits right into that creepy tradition.

A few years ago Desert Golfing caused a bit of a stir. Superficially simple, it convinced many indie game enthusiasts that it was a profound meditation aid as well as a game. Golf on Mars is the sequel, and it has an even greater scope for variation.

Kingdom Hearts Dark Road – originally known as Project Xenahort – is a standalone entry in the Kingdom Hearts series that you have to download through the Kingdom Hearts Union Cross app. It shares story features with that game.

Plus Some Games We Missed…

A deck-building RPG adventure with roguelike elements and rich storytelling.

A clever little puzzler in which you explore a series of stylish isometric spaces in search of closure.

An action-packed biker combat game that takes the DNA of Road Rash and reanimates it for the smartphone generation.

Sales

The first BAFTA-winning The Room game is already free, and this weekend you can pick up the other three at discounted prices. This is as cheap as The Room 2 and The Room 3 have ever been.

In another great sale, you can pick up the Kingdom Rush games and the excellent Iron Marines for a bargain price this weekend. Iron Marines at 99c is a particular steal.

In yet another tempting publisher sale, Asmodee has discounted the prices of several of its excellent board game conversions, including Ticket to Ride, Small World, and the excellent Carcassonne, among others.

Soccer is back on UK screens, and so it’s a good time to grab Football Manager 2020 – particularly as it’s currently on sale at $3.99, down from its usual price of $8.99.

Once again the Goat Simulator games are available for a song on the Google Play Store. You can buy Goat Simulator, Goat Simulator Payday, Goat Simulator MMO, Goat Simulator GoatZ, and Goat Simulator Waste of Space at a bargain price right now.
