The relationship between the two parties spans back as far as 2013, engaging in similar peripheral deals to create customised controllers and outfit OpTic Gaming’s console-based players. In 2018, the affair was renewed to support OpTic Gaming’s Call of Duty and Gears of War teams, as well as its content creators.

Duncan Ironmonger, Founder and CEO of SCUF Gaming, spoke to the partnership in a release: “The OpTic brand has deservedly earned its place in the Call of Duty history books and is a brand SCUF has worked with since the early days of esports. We’ve supported OpTic for years, and are excited to once again create something special for both their players and fans. This deal means that two companies that were there at the beginning of esports are set to continue their storied partnership.”

SCUF Gaming has been striking up deals with Call of Duty League franchises left-and-right. Earlier this month, both Toronto Ultra and Atlanta FaZe were added as official partners of the controller brand, strengthening its stake in the market. March 3rd saw the purchase of SCUF Gaming at the hand of computer peripherals and hardware company CORSAIR, which included the company and its patent portfolio.

John Tuck, Chief Commercial Officer of Immortal Gaming Club, added: “OpTic Gaming believes that in-game performance comes from having the best tech. SCUF Gaming’s in-depth knowledge makes them the perfect equipment partner for OpTic’s elite roster of professional players.”

Esports Insider says: The deal at hand marks SCUF Gaming’s third this month, enlisting three of the leading Call of Duty League franchises as official partners. The controller manufacturer has long been a staple in the competitive gaming space, but it’s likely its CORSAIR acquisition has accelerated its market takeover.
