Best New Android Games, Updates, and Sales: GRIS, Gwent, Cat Quest, and More

Wherever you are, chances are you’ve spent much of the last two weeks or more at home, worrying about shortages. Fortunately, there’s no shortage of mobile games to play, with several stonking titles hitting the Play Store this week.

There are a few great bargains to be had, as well, including a couple of premium games that have gone free. Rejoice!

New Games

Door Kickers: Action Squad is the sequel to Door Kickers. Obv. It takes a more action-oriented approach than its predecessor, as well as changing the perspective from top-down to side-scrolling.

Game of Thrones Beyond the Wall has come along at the right time, after the show finished but before the next book hits the presses. It sees you playing as Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch in a new storyline that’s parallel to, and interwoven with, the last season.

GRIS is an acclaimed indie platformer in which you play as a girl achieving self-fulfilment, as conveyed by her increasingly elaborate garments. It looks absolutely fabulous.

Totally Reliable Delivery Service is like a postal counterpart to Goat Simulator. It sees you trying to deliver packages while encumbered by obstacles, hazards, and your own wobbly ragdoll of a body.

Angry Birds Legends is one of several new Angry Birds spin-offs in the works. It sees birds and pigs uniting to defeat a common enemy, as you compile teams, upgrade troops, and do all that stuff you do in every mobile MMO ever.

Updates

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game only came out last week, but already it’s on version 6.1. HOW COME? Because the Android version joins several other versions, and they all get updated at the same time – in this case with a new progression system and leader abilities.

Mega Man X DIVE has got its first event, which is happening right now. Re-Taking the Candy Factory nets you three time-limited characters, as well as various other goodies like Element Metal, Skill Points, and more.

Rush Rally 3 is one of the best racing games on mobile, and it’s just got slightly better thanks to a massive 1.69 update that adds a Classic Cars DLC and makes all the existing cars look all shiny and new.

RuseScape has finally got the Archaeology update, which changes the game more dramatically than any update in its long history. The Archaeology lets you excavate various sites for important stuff and game-wide perks.

Sales

Perhaps in anticipation of Rebel Cops, which is coming later this month, HandyGames has temporarily slashed the price of its grimy cop-fest This is the Police by $5.

Homo Machina is a hugely inventive puzzler inspired by the work of Fritz Mann, a pioneer of infographics. It metaphorically expresses various bodily functions as mechanical tasks that you have to complete to keep a human being on the road, so to speak. It’s currently free.

You won’t hear a bad word said about Stardew Valley. This charming farming RPG was already a hit before it came to mobile, and now you can pick it up for a mere $4.99 – $3 less than usual.

Cytus II is one of the most interesting, stylish rhythm games going. It’s set in a dystopian future where humans and the internet have effectively become one pulsating superorganism, and it’s currently free.

Thimbleweed Park is a point-and-click adventure game that’s very reminiscent of Monkey Island. That’s because it has the same developers, Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick, and therefore the same immaculat puzzle design and winning humor. You can pick up half price right now.

Cat Quest is an odd but extremely enjoyable action-RPG in which you play as a cat, wandering around, killing stuff, collecting loot, and generally behaving quite like a cat. It’s free all week.
