Nintendo is shutting down Fire Emblem Heroes and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp in Belgium in August due to the country’s recent clamp down on loot boxes.

Back in April 2018, Belgium declared that loot boxes are gambling and made them illegal, forcing a number of studios to alter their game’s revenue streams.

Nintendo won’t release any future games with a loot box model in Belgium

Valve, Blizzard, ArenaNet, 2K, and EA were all forced to make changes to their respective games following the changes.

And now Nintendo is the latest, joining the party much later than everyone else. Fire Emblem Heroes and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will officially close on August 27, 2019.

Nintendo also made it clear that any future games with similar models won’t launch in Belgium either.

If you’d like to check them out before they close, you can grab Fire Emblem Heroes and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp on Google Play right now.
