Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is now up for pre-registration

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite took one step closer to launching this week as you can now pre-register for the upcoming AR game on Google Play.

We’ve also got a first look at the game in action, thanks to a lovely update of the official site. You can check out the spell-casting, portkey placing, and fortress, erm, attacking.

It really does look like it’s shaping up to be something truly special, and a considerable step up from the excellent Pokémon GO – if that’s even possible.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is the latest AR game by Niantic

So what will you do in this Harry Potter AR game? Well, you play as a witch or wizard who has to try and save the muggle world from a bunch of magical mishap currently infesting it.

That’s where the AR features come in, as you can see stuff that muggles can’t by looking around with your phone. You’re looking for Foundables, which are basically things that shouldn’t be there.

It’s a lot like Pokémon GO in that respect, except without the collectible monsters. Once you’ve found a Foundable, you can cast spells to interact with it in a variety of different ways.

Gyms are replaced by Fortresses here, which require you to participate in real-time multiplayer battles against Death Eaters, Dementors, and more nasties. Fortunately, you can bring your friends with you so you don’t have to face them alone.

There’s so much going on in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite that we can’t possibly do it justice in this news article. So go ahead and learn more on the official site, which has just been updated.

You can also head on over to Google Play right now to pre-register. That way you can grab the game literally the moment it launches properly. Hopefully that won’t be long.
