Dave the Diver Finally Lands on Mobile with All the DLCs!

Dave the Diver is finally out on mobile, with all its weird combination of underwater exploration, fishing, sushi restaurant management, and RPG progression. Mintrocket, the developer, is publishing the mobile version, which comes with all the original game’s DLCs except In The Jungle.

During the day, you’re Dave. He’s a SCUBA diver heading into the massive and constantly changing Blue Hole to catch fish, collect resources and investigate weird secrets hiding down there. Then night rolls around, and you’re working at a sushi restaurant with your friend Bancho. Keep customers fed while Bancho turns the day’s catch into delicious dishes.

Dave has a harpoon and other weapons for catching sea life and dealing with whatever decides it doesn’t want to be caught. Early on, you’re mostly worrying about regular fish like tuna, but later man-eating sharks and other strange creatures start showing up.

There are more than 200 kinds of sea creatures in the Blue Hole. And it also changes as you explore it, giving the diving a bit of roguelike-ish feeling. You can swim around fighting things, gathering materials and grabbing anything that looks useful.

You can upgrade and forge gear using collected materials and the money you make from the sushi restaurant. That’s the loop. You dive to get stuff, the restaurant helps you make money, that money helps improve your equipment, and better equipment lets you go further into the ocean.

Visually, Dave the Diver mixes pixel art with 3D graphics. The game is also quite popular for all its digs at other games and pop culture. There are hidden jokes, visual references and straight-up homages scattered all over the place. So, do check it out on the Google Play Store.
