01 Sep Mobile Gaming Farmyard Action Game Straw Fire Launches on Android September 1, 2026 Posted by GataGames Leave a comment If you’re into weird little indie games with surprisingly stressful mechanics, this one’s worth looking at. Vietnamese solo developer PixPop just released Straw Fire worldwide on Android. The game supports both English and Vietnamese. It’s wild, trust me! You’re on a Vietnamese farm where all the chickens are hiding inside giant bundles of straw. The catch is… you can’t actually see them, and you can’t pull the straw apart either. So, your only option is to literally set the straw on fire. You throw a log, but it doesn’t land right next to you. It lands exactly three tiles away, sits there for three seconds, and then explodes into a cross-shaped fire blast that spreads through the straw. The flames reveal the hidden chickens, but now you’ve only got two seconds to run over and rescue them before that exact same fire burns them alive. And if you’re standing in the wrong spot? Yeah, you die, too! So, every single fire throw is basically gambling on whether you’ve left yourself a safe escape route. On top of that, rats and snakes are constantly trying to steal or kill the chickens. Then, from level three onward, you also have henhouses to protect before enemies destroy them. And if you’re playing the old man’s campaign, wolves eventually show up and start attacking the coops directly. There are three playable characters in Straw Fire. They all play differently. The girl can place traps and even disguise herself as a stone to avoid danger. The boy gets a high jump that lets him leap over obstacles. The old man is probably the weirdest one because he can move in eight directions instead of four and uses a cane that stuns enemies around him. His campaign is also where wolves appear, and later he can even unlock an eagle that helps defend the coops. It’s like chess, but not chess. Straw Fire also has traps, stockings, a high jump ability, and a hammer for repairing coops. As you progress, you can upgrade your firewood so the flames spread farther across the straw. You also get companions like a Golden Retriever, a German Shepherd, and a calico cat. Straw Fire is now available on the Google Play Store for free.
