Never Grave: The Witch and the Curse Is Out Exclusively on Android

Never Grave is a Metroidvania with roguelite elements. And that’s not it. There’s village building, there’s online co-op for up to four players, and more. Also, our main character is a cursed witch running around with an evil hat that can possess enemies. Yep, interesting!

Never Grave: The Witch and the Curse is developed by Frontside 180 and published by Pocketpair. It’s now available on Android, after the full version launched on PC in March 2026. The game uses traditional Japanese hand-drawn limited animation for its 2D character animation.

Never grieve on the grave

You’re a cursed witch exploring dungeons with the help of a cursed hat. You’ll fight monsters with magic, use the environment around you, solve puzzles, and deal with obstacles, while pushing deeper into the dungeon.

You can possess enemies with the cursed hat and then use their unique abilities yourself. You can find artefacts that unlock things like the double-jump, opening up new areas as you progress. There are also special items that improve your movement abilities.

The dungeons in Never Grave are procedurally generated, with places like ruins and botanical gardens changing from run to run. There are different types of terrain, monsters, loot, puzzles and hazards.

Back in the village, you bring materials from the dungeons, clear away rubble in the ruined settlement, build facilities, grow crops and produce things like food and potions. There are skill trees that can improve things like attack, defense and resource efficiency, and the materials dropped by enemies feed into the upgrades.

Never Grave has multiplayer, too

You can play with up to four people, and you only need to build a simple structure in the village. Once you use it, you get a code that other players can enter to join you, and this can be done right from the beginning of the game.
