Sky: Children of the Light is getting a new BTS book called The Art of Sky: Gratitude To Nesting (2019-2024). The studio published the first book, The Art of Sky, in February 2024. The first book explored the seven years of development work thatgamecompany invested before formally announcing the game. It features early concepts and other development materials from the project’s earliest stages. The Art of Sky: Gratitude To Nesting is a 245-page book with previously unpublished material from the development of Sky: Children of the Light. It takes readers through the origins of major projects, the creative decisions behind them, and the obstacles the team faced. It also includes unexpected moments that shaped the journey. Drawing from contributions by season designers, artists, and engineers, it looks back on the first five years of building the world of Sky and the evolving kingdom. The book is co-authored by Narrative Writer Jennie Kong and Visual Development Lead Yuichiro Tanabe. Both have been with thatgamecompany for years and previously worked on the original The Art of Sky volume. According to thatgamecompany Art Director Cecil Kim, the studio wanted the second volume to serve as a celebration of both the development team and the community that has supported the game since its 2019 launch. Meanwhile, the game has kicked off the Days of Color 2026 event. It runs until June 18th and celebrates the colourful mosaic of lights that make up the game’s community.
