Hearthside: A Teeny Tiny Game Is Now Out on Mobile with City-Building Challenges

Short Circuit Studio, the creator of Teeny Tiny Town and Townsfolk, has dropped its latest title on mobile. It’s a cosy merge city-builder called Hearthside: A Teeny Tiny Game, whose presentation is pretty similar to their previous releases.

You get a limited board and try to make the most of it. Rather than managing sprawling systems, you focus on placing tiles carefully and combining them to form a settlement. The game presents itself with a calm tone. Cosy medieval visuals, soft environments, and ambient sound design: all fit perfectly together.

It all begins with very little

A single piece, a flicker of warmth, and a sparse space. Merge three or more matching tiles, and they evolve into something new. Turn basic elements into cottages, then into larger structures, and eventually into landmarks that define the settlement.

Each merge also introduces new considerations as space becomes increasingly scarce. The board is intentionally small, so every tile placement carries weight. Resources, buildings, and future opportunities all compete for the same limited space.

As the village expands, so do the layers of strategy. You collect resources and unlock new possibilities. Meanwhile, power-ups introduce moments where timing is quite important.

Additional modes and features are also available. Endless mode allows for long-term progression, while different strategic board sizes offer variations. Leaderboards and achievements are also part of this initial launch.

Is it too much already?

Hearthside: A Teeny Tiny Game is another similar game from Short Circuit Studio. While I like how it looks, I think it’s just an extended version of Teeny Tiny Town. The studio has probably vowed to carry forward the ‘tiny’ theme for as long as they develop mobile games.

Now, don’t get offended. I myself liked (and still do) Teeny Tiny Town and Teeny Tiny Trains. But I feel these games are too similar in the way they play out (or even look). Nonetheless, Hearthside: A Teeny Tiny Game is available on the Google Play Store, so you can give it a spin if you want to!
