11 Apr Mobile Gaming Doki Doki Literature Club Removed from the Google Play Store Four Months After Its Launch April 11, 2026 Posted by GataGames Leave a comment Doki Doki Literature Club has been removed from the Google Play Store. And, it wasn’t the developers’ call! The game was released in December 2025, so it’s been four months since its launch. It remains accessible on other platforms, including Steam, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, Xbox, and iOS. Why was Doki Doki Literature Club removed from the Google Play Store? Google told the developers that the game violated its Terms of Service due to its depiction of sensitive topics. According to creator Dan Salvato and publisher Serenity Forge, Google’s issue is mainly with how the game handles things like depression and suicide. But the team isn’t really agreeing with that. They’re saying the whole point of the game is to explore those topics in a way that actually connects with players. They argue that its impact lies in helping people feel understood and less isolated. And obviously, the removal is a pretty big deal, considering how well-known this game is in the psychological horror space. It looks cute and harmless at first, but if you know, you know it gets really dark. The game has a Mature 17+ rating on the Play Store, and right at the start, it warns players that it’s not for kids or anyone easily disturbed. There are even extra content warnings you can turn on in the settings. So, I don’t see why Google would remove Doki Doki Literature Club from the Play Store, especially after it has been so transparent about its content. And it’s just Android users who are stuck without it on the Play Store. The developers say they’re trying to figure out a way to bring it back. Now, that could mean getting it reinstated or finding another way to distribute it on Android. But they’ve also made it clear they don’t want to censor or change the game, so it might take some time.
