12 Feb GameNews Apex Legends Unveils Year-Long Plan With Two New Characters As Fan Complaints Mount February 12, 2026 Posted by GataGames Leave a comment Fresh from kicking off Season 28 of Apex Legends, developer Respawn Entertainment outlined the next year of new content and changes for the battle royale. The studio’s roadmap includes two new playable characters and a major map update, though specifics were rather sparse. A video update from the team at Respawn shared that the next Legend, a Skirmisher character, is arriving in Season 29 this May, with another due to be added in Season 32, scheduled for February 2027. Respawn said that both characters are designed to “shake up how you build your squad and find new ways to take on fights together.” The last new Legend, Sparrow, was added to the game last May. Promises for the coming year also included additional reworks for existing characters, an overhaul to looting, and “game reliability efforts.” But the promises come as players raise issues with the game’s latest seasonal update, particularly the controversial changes to Ranked Mode. Among the pile of complaints is how Ranked Mode has done away with controlled drop zones, which would assign points-of-interest for squads to land in–this season’s Ranked Mode reverted back to using the Drop Ship seen in non-competitive playlists, leading to what players believe to be chaotic fights. The game’s Wildcard Mode is also having some issues, with players respawning off the map and unable to get back into the fray. Fans are also expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of new story elements, character arcs, or lore. Judging from replies on YouTube and social media, players appear muted or unmoved by Respawn’s brief presentation. It’s hard not to contrast this tepid reaction to the excitement generated from competing hero shooter Overwatch, which just underwent a rebranding and has an entire year’s worth of content (including 10 new characters) detailed in a roadmap. With other live-service contemporaries like Overwatch and Deadlock stepping up, Apex Legends has a lot to prove in 2026. Source link Facebook Twitter Email Pinterest
