01 Feb GameNews A God Of War Actor Is Reprising His Game Role For The TV Show February 1, 2026 Posted by GataGames Leave a comment While the upcoming God of War television show for Prime Video has mostly been casting new faces for key roles, fans of the game can expect to see at least one actor reprising his original role. Welcome back, Mimir. A report from Deadline confirmed that Scottish actor Alastair Duncan will once again portray Mimir, the self-declared “smartest man in the world.” Duncan first appeared as Mimir in the 2018 installment, and his other video game credits include Death Stranding 2 as the President and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance as the nano-machine-loving Senator Armstrong. Mimir was Odin’s advisor before his imprisonment in Midgard, forever bound to a tree. Kratos then freed him (by chopping his head off and getting it resurrected, mind you), and Mimir’s talking disembodied head became a permanent companion throughout the game and its 2022 sequel. Deadline also reported the castings of Jeff Gulka and Danny Woodburn as blacksmith brothers Sindri and Brok, respectively. Though Duncan is the first actor announced to return to his role in the game, he isn’t the only one with prior God of War ties: Ryan Hurst, who portrayed Thor in God of War Ragnarok, is taking on the role of Kratos in the live-action show, a casting move that Kratos game actor Christopher Judge endorsed. The God of War cast is quickly taking shape with a bombardment of casting announcements, including movie legend Mandy Patinkin as Odin and Severance’s Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor. Amazon has been quite busy adapting popular video game franchises for its streaming service, with Season 2 of Fallout about to wrap up and shooting for a Sophie Turner-starring Tomb Raider show underway.
