Short Creepy Stories Level 9 Walkthrough

The Basics

Level 9 is a chapter in the Extras section of Short Creepy Stories. It’s heavily inspired by the game The Exit 8. You are trying to escape from an underground liminal space of subway tunnels, and to do that you need to be observant and spot differences.

When you first start playing Level 9, you’ll see a hallway in the subway. Note all of the details here. This is how it’s supposed to look. Keep walking and you’ll reach a very similar hallway. Now here’s the challenge:

• Enter the hallway.
• If everything looks the same as the first hallway, move forwards, make your way to the end and keep walking.
• If you see any differences, that’s an anomaly. Turn around and head back the way you came.

The idea is simple, but getting it correct can be a bit tricky.

How The Corridor Is Supposed To Look

When you first start a run you first get to see the way the corridor is supposed to look. You need to check carefully and memorize all the details… though we’ve also taken some images to help you.

The Anomalies

The key to success in Level 9 is being able to spot anomalies, differences from the first version of the corridor you see. Some of these are obvious, others are very subtle.

Note: We noticed that when we played the starting corridor had a sign that reads ‘Exit 9’ and in other version of it it reads ‘Exit 8’. This is not an anomaly and you can ignore this.

Posters Out Of Order

Easy to miss, sometimes the surfing poster and the Vogue poster switch places.

Posters In Wrong Place

One of those ‘something is wrong but I’m not sure what moments for us, we only figured it out afterwards. Sometimes there’s an anomaly where all the posters are bumped to nearly the end of the lefthand wall. They’re supposed to be in the middle.

No Writing On Concourse Sign

A sneaky one. When you pass under the exit sign, turn around and look up to check that the back of the sign reads ‘Concourse’. If it doesn’t, it’s an anomaly.

Unsettling CCTV Sign

The sign that usually says ‘CCTV in operation’ displays a much more worrying message instead.

Blood River

A river a red liquid runs down the hallway towards you. Maybe it’s a spectacular soda machine accident, but we don’t think you should stick around to find out. Turn around and head back.

Meat Clothes Lady

The phone lady walks down as normal, but she’s wearing… a red suit? A very wet-looking red suit. A suit that looks like it’s made out of bits of steak. That’s definitely not right.

Meat Skin Lady

An even more worrying variation of the Meat Clothes Lady, this one instead has skin that’s that wet, shiny, meat texture. Eek.

Blonde Lady

More normal than the previous too, but still an anomaly and a reason to turn back. This had the lady sporting a head of blonde hair.

No Hands Lady

In this one, the lady’s hair and clothes look perfectly normal… but if you look closely both her hands are missing. She’ll act like they’re still there, even standing and miming tapping on a phone that’s not there with her handless arms.

Giant Lady

Right clothes and hair, all her limbs… but the lady is about twice your height. You come up to her waist. That’s definitely not right.

Greyscale Lady

In this one, the lady appears like she’s in a black and white film… but she’s in a full color subway corridor. More than enough of a reason to turn around and head out.

Open Door

One of the doors on the right wall is wide open, leading to a dark room inside. For some reason this creeped us out a lot more than things like the blood river when we were playing. Just feels very sinister. Turn yourself around.

Nope

Now this one is really obvious… but also really creepy. You’ll see the end of the hallway is dark, and something is standing there, watching you. No thank you, I don’t think I will.

Jumpscare

Probably the most obvious one here, but it’s still probably going to surprise you anyway. Something pops up and jumpscares you halfway down the corridor. Take a second to compose yourself, then head right back to the beginning of the corridor.

Exit 9

Once you reach the ninth corridor (manage to navigate eight previous ones without making a mistake) then you can move straight through. At the end you should see a staircase with a bright light at the end. That’s the exit to the surface! Hurry over there and get out of this weird subway.
