What Is Kookoo?

Kookoo is an entity that doesn’t appear in regular Grace runs. In fact it only appears as the result of the Tick Tick modifier, or from equipping the Cog trait. Kookoo can appear at any time, and will manifest as a clock appearing on screen. The clock counts down a semi-randomized timer, and on reaching zero, if you haven’t taken evasive maneuvres, you’ll see the screen fill with smiling blue faces with Xs for eyes, and then you’ll drop dead.

How To Survive Kookoo

Of course, the easiest way to win with Kookoo is not to play. The entity only appears if you invite it by using the modifiers or Cog’s curse. If you want to carry on with that though, you just need to learn Kookoo’s patterns.

When you see Kookoo’s timer, you need to empty your hands of any objects. So if you’re carrying a light source like a lantern or flashlight, stash it immediately. This may mean plunging yourself into darkness, but it’s definitely better than getting instakilled. Stash your items, wait for the timer to finish, and Kookoo should go away, well, go away for a little while, anyway. You never know when the blue face of death will show up again.
