PUBG Mobile reveals Promotion Match and Season Series

PUBG Mobile has unveiled two new systems arriving in its in-game competitive playlists as part of the battle royale title’s v4.2 update.

Known as the Season Series and the Promotion Match, these systems aim to offer players with long-term objectives and rewards to earn throughout each season.

Revealed on January 2nd, Season Series and Promotion Match will go live on January 11th as part of the Season Ascension initiative. The Season Series will take place across six months and consists of three regular seasons. Starting with Season 28, players will receive an in-game medal that evolves based on their performances in Classic Mode, Ultimate Royale, and Trial Challenges.

In addition to this, the Season Series will feature a variety of in-game items, ranging from an exclusive parachute to outfit sets, covers, and hoverboards.

The Promotion Match, on the other hand, will act as a new challenge for players ranked Ace and higher. New high-tier icons and Glory Badges will be up for grabs, along with bonus tier rewards, including an MVP emote and themed cosmetic items.

PUBG Mobile is no stranger to making adjustments to its casual and competitive modes to better incorporate esports. Most recently, the v4.1 update introduced esports-themed arenas to commemorate the PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2025.

PUBG Mobile Esports in 2026

KRAFTON has made several changes to PUBG Mobile’s competitive structure for the 2026 competitive season. Over the next 12 months, the title will host two Global Opens, alongside the PUBG Mobile World Cup and the PUBG Mobile Global Championship.

In addition to its high-profile events, the year marks the introduction of an upgraded in-game tournament participation system, enabling players to compete in online competitions more seamlessly.

With the two new systems designed to reward high-ranked players and encourage long-term progression, PUBG Mobile’s continued adjustments to its competitive ecosystem can potentially drive further engagement in the higher skill brackets.
