Unicorn blood is a bright pink-purple liquid, and it’s very important if you want to get the most out of the new liquids system. Time to explain.

What Does Unicorn Blood Do?

The short answer is.. not that much by itself. The long answer, it’s the base for nearly any potion you can think of in Dead Rails. This means it’s an important part of the following…

• Angel Tears
• Devil Tears
• Holy Water
• Primordial Soup

So, if you want to make potions, you need to find a source of Unicorn Blood.

How Do You Get Unicorn Blood?

Currently, there are two ways to get hold of Unicorn Blood. The obvious way, and the probably-actually-easier way.

• Fight a Unicorn. These rare horned horses bleed the stuff when you damage them. This is pretty easy to do… but only if you can find a Unicorn. Given how rarely they spawn, you can easily go a whole run without seeing one. So, that leaves the other option.
• Lightning. If lightning hits a puddle of another liquid, it will turn to Unicorn Blood. This is much more likely to happen, with lightning storms being relatively common, and lightning rods being pretty easily available.

Once you’ve got your Unicorn Blood puddle, you can pick it up using a Glass Bottle. If the bottle has something in already, it will end up a mix of Unicorn Blood and whatever else is in there. Pour it out again to mix potions.
