Free Fire World Series Finals 2024 records highest viewership in two years

The recently concluded Free Fire World Series Finals has recorded its highest peak viewership since 2022, beating out the Free Fire World Series 2023 and the Esports World Cup Free Fire event that took place earlier this year.

The event, which had its finals take place over the weekend in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, had a peak viewership of 731,970 — an increase of around 180,000 over 2023’s edition of the same event, according to esports data platform Esports Charts.

Whilst the increase is impressive when compared to last year’s event or even the Esports World cup, which had a peak viewership of 471,483, it stands nowhere near the Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore event which previously held the record for the highest esports peak viewership at 5.4m peak viewers.

Alongside its increase in peak viewership, the Free Fire World Series Finals 2024 also recorded an average viewership of 252,436, which is higher than both the EWC (206,744) and Free Fire World Series 2023 (187,547).

The event, and a $300,000 (~£239,000) share of the $1m prize pool, was won by Brazilian esports organisation Fluxo with Indonesian organisation RRQ Kazu achieving a second place finish. The Grand Finals, where 12 teams competed over six matches, was the most watched portion of the event.

The Brazilian fan-base came out of in force to support the winning team as Portuguese had the highest peak viewership of any language stream with 436,153 watchers. Vietnamese and Spanish drew in the second and highest amount of viewers with peaks of 192,397 and 98,364 respectively.

Interestingly the majority of viewers watched on YouTube, which had a peak of 566,005, whilst TikTok Live brought in a peak of 142,259. Twitch only had a peak of 36,884 as Big Live (4,402) and Kick (2,803) brought in a small share of viewers each.

As a result of these viewership statistics, the Free Fire World Series Finals 2024 has become the 15th most viewed Free Fire event in the game’s history.
