Grassroots esports platform Leagues.gg has launched Leagues Media, a subsidiary exclusively focused on the gaming industry.

The subsidiary aims to connect brands with gaming through media rights and ‘innovative gaming market approaches.’

According to a release, Max Grimborg, former Media Strategist at Esportal Group, will become the platform’s Chief Sales Officer to lead its expansion. The new subsidiary aims to create partnerships between gamers and brands looking to embark on projects within the industry.

Leagues Media will also take over operations of the Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC). Leagues.gg has collaborated with Riot Games to operate the NLC since January 2023. In addition to operating the NLC, the platform is most known across Nordic countries for organising grassroots esports leagues and tournaments in VALORANT, Counter-Strike and League of Legends.

Grimborg possesses a wealth of experience within the gaming and esports industries. In addition to his time at Esportal, he was the Head of Gaming and Client Manager for media company We Are Era Nordics which specialises in influencer marketing and digital strategies.

Founded in 2017, Leagues.gg has collaborated with the likes of Red Bull and peripherals manufacturer SteelSeries to run a range of activations during esports tournaments.

Christian Henriksen, CEO of Leagues.gg, spoke on the news: “Max’s arrival at Leagues Media is a significant step in our growth trajectory.

“His extensive experience in building partnerships and knowledge of the gaming landscape will be key to driving our mission forward as we expand our presence across the Northern European region and beyond.”
