He built up sales experience in traditional sports prior to his jump over to esports, having worked with the NFL in the past. May spoke to Esports Insider about his new venture: “Beasley Media Group is an amazing example of a brand who is using esports to innovate. The acquisition of the Houston Outlaws certainly shook the ground and the opportunity to join Chris DeAppolonio’s team was more then I ever could have asked for. With his leadership and Lori Burgess’s guidance, I’m confident we can make the Outlaws more than just a Houston brand. “I’ll be focused on creating unique and strategic relationships within esports while also helping a number of non-endemic brands get over the hump of why it’s so crucial to be a part of esports right now. There’s a certain level relationship and conversation that I believe can achieve that and I’m looking forward to being able to do it for the Outlaws.” RELATED: Chris DeAppolonio on Houston Outlaws purchase by Beasley Media Group Beasley Media Group has made a couple of esports-focused hires since it acquired Houston Outlaws from Immortals Gaming Club in November. Esports Insider recently spoke with Outlaws president Chris DeAppolonio about the acquisition and the direction of the franchise. In December, Jeff Zajac was appointed as its Executive Director of Events and Strategic Alliances, whereas Lori Burgess has just moved from Chief Digital Content Officer of Beasley Media Group to become the COO of Beasley Esports. Esports Insider says: It’s good to see Beasley Media Group work quickly to build a solid infrastructure around its esports efforts. Bringing in May, who has previous esports experience, could be a pivotal move for the franchise as it looks to cement itself within Houston’s commercial ecosystem from this year onwards.
