25 Best Upcoming Games on Android in 2020

Now that Christmas is out of the way, we’re rapidly approaching the next big holiday: New Year. So we thought we’d use this as an opportunity to highlight some of the big Android games that we expect to launch on our favourite platform next year. Here’s our top 25 picks.

25 Best Upcoming Games on Android in 2020

Apex Legends

The long-rumoured mobile port of Apex Legends should finally arrive on Android in 2020, and we expect it to be pretty much a direct port. Think Fortnite on mobile rather than PUBG Mobile.

Dauntless

Dauntless is another massive console and PC hit that we expect to finally arrive on mobile in 2020. Now that the Switch version is out of the way, Phoenix Labs can really focus on the touchscreen version, which we expect to be fully cross-platform.

Diablo Immortal

Despite receiving an overwhelmingly negative reception when it was announced at BlizzCon 2018, Blizzard and developer NetEase have not been deterred, and brought Diablo Immortal back for a second showing at BlizzCon 2019 to a much warmer reception. Though we’re still not entirely sure why Blizzard isn’t simply porting Diablo III to mobile, Immortal definitely looks the part.

Eve: Echoes

Us Android folk can actually check out Eve: Echoes right now, as it’s available in beta. The full release should arrive in 2020 though, so it still deserves a spot on this list. It’s basically Eve Online as you know and love it, just adapted to mobile.

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles is a deep cut from Square Enix’s history. First arriving as a four player co-op adventure on Nintendo’s GameCube way back in 2003, Square Enix made the decision to revive it for pretty much every platform. It should arrive in 2020.

Forza Street

Forza Street is basically a mobile version of Microsoft’s hit racing franchise. You’ll collect and upgrade cars, participate in a bunch of events, and more as you take to the neon-tinged streets Fast and Furious-style. The Google Play page is up, so you might even be able to play this now in certain territories.

Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall

Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall was announced ages ago, has been in beta on Android since August 2019, and seems no closer to launch today. Still, we expect this upcoming gacha RPG to properly launch in 2020.

H1Z1

Much like Apex Legends, we expect H1Z1 to finally make its mobile appearance in 2020. Though it’s not quite as big as its competitors, H1Z1 does offer a five player mode for those that have too many friends.

Impossible Bottles

Impossible Bottles is an upcoming rhythm game about a scientist who strives to solve the energy crisis through music. You’ll fire electricity streams to robots in time with music inspired by the 1960s all the way up to a fictional 2050. This is definitely one to watch.

League of Legends: Wild Rift

League of Legends: Wild Rift is basically proper League of Legends on mobile. Riot Games has taken its sweet time bringing the world’s biggest MOBA to mobile, and it should finally happen in 2020.

Legends of Runeterra

Legends of Runeterra is a spin-off of League of Legends under development at Riot Games, and it’s a card-battling Hearthstone competitor.

Levelhead

Crashlands developer Butterscotch Shenanigans is hard at work on its latest game, the upcoming Levelhead. It’s basically Mario Maker, in that you can create a variety of levels and share them with your friends.

Path of Exile Mobile

Grinding Gear Games one-upped Blizzard in 2019 by announcing Path of Exile Mobile, a legitimate version of its hit action RPG adventure that’s been built from the ground up for mobile, and entirely without consequences. It just goes to show how few mobile developers actually get mobile, but Grinding Gear Games does. If you’re a developer interested in bringing your game to mobile, look to these guys for inspiration.

Plants vs Zombies 3

That’s right: PopCap Games has announced a third iteration of Plants vs Zombies for mobile, which will hopefully get a global launch in 2020. Some of you may already have played it too, as it was briefly available in a Pre-Alpha during 2019.

Pokémon Sleep

Ever wished you didn’t have to stop playing games to sleep? Well, Pokémon Sleep might have the perfect solution for you. This upcoming mobile exclusive tracks how long you sleep and rewards you for it – though we don’t know exactly how just yet. Hopefully we’ll learn more in 2020.

Project Cars GO

Project Cars is coming to mobile with a signature GO. It will feature licensed vehicles, car customisation, and, of course, lots and lots of racing.

RuneScape Mobile

RuneScape Mobile is already available to RuneScape Members on Android, but it should launch for all in 2020. It’s a direct port too, with all of the content, your characters, and full cross play between PC and mobile.

Shadowgun War Games

Shadowgun War Games is an upcoming 5v5 first person shooter by Madfinger Games, the folks behind Shadowgun Legends. It seems to be a riff on Overwatch, with a variety of heroes, skins, and emotes to unlock.

Sky: Children of the Light

Sky: Children of the Light by Journey developer thatgamecompany will transition from iOS to Android in 2020. It’s a shame we’ve had to wait, but it’s certainly a case of better late than never, as this multiplayer adventure looks gorgeous.

Stranger Things

Netflix still plans to bring a mobile game version of Stranger Things to arrive in 2020. It will use the power of AR and encourage you to get out of the house as you, presumably, interact with the Upside Down. Spooky stuff.

Super Meat Boy Forever

Super Meat Boy Forever is an upcoming sequel to the smash hit indie game. You read that right: it’s a full-blown sequel that features procedurally-generated levels that get harder each time you beat them. Meat Boy and Bandage Girl have also had a baby called Nugget, which is just adorable.

Teamfight Tactics

Teamfight Tactics is the third League of Legends mobile game by Riot Games, and this one is inspired by Auto Chess. It’s a full mobile release of the game mode that’s currently available in the PC version of League of Legends.

Terraforming Mars

Terraforming Mars is an upcoming digital board game by Asmodee, which challenges you to do what it says on the tin. You’ll place water, structures, greenery, and more as you strive to make Mars habitable.

Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad

Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad is an upcoming gacha RPG, which brings together characters from various different Tom Clancy franchises, including Splinter Cell.

War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius

Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius is a very popular mobile game, so it makes sense that Square Enix is working on a sequel. What’s impressive though is that War of the Visions goes well above and beyond to provide a massive SRPG experience on mobile.
