Tournament organiser Axis Esports has been selected as Esports Pro League’s first Malaysian franchisee, whereas Southeast Asian television channel eGG Network will broadcast the event from early 2020. This partnership represents a pivotal moment in the growth of esports in Malaysia. Axis has strong relationships with stakeholders of the esports industry – including the esports community and globally popular games. We also have the infrastructure and experience in organizing events and tournaments locally.” Esports Pro League is set to run from February to December 2020 across 16 countries in Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Official details surrounding the tournament are set to be announced in the near future. It’s global and for everyone, connecting all of the continents. With our valued partners, eGG and Astro, we have extensive geographical coverage, enabling us to further grow our international esports ecosystem in this exciting phase of the esports industry.” Owned by Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad, eGG network broadcasts to eight countries in Southeast Asia. It’s reported to be broadcasting over 2,000 hours of live esports content on an annual basis. Esports Insider says: It’s hard to say how we think ESPL will fare considering a lot of the details are yet to be disclosed. We expect more partnership announcements to be on the horizon, and the quality of those who sign with the league will be rather telling about the reception it’ll get from the jump.
