The details come after the developer announced that the Call of Duty League (CDL) will be using a home & away format, similar to the format that will be used in the third season of the Overwatch League. Image credit: Call of Duty League RELATED: London Royal Ravens unveiled as first Call of Duty League franchise Call of Duty Challengers will feature a prize pool of over $1 million (£769,200), split across online and offline tournaments throughout the 2020 season. The offline element of Challengers will see events hosted at various Call of Duty League home series. The initiative runs on points, with players receiving ‘Challenger Points’ for placing favourably in online tournaments. Those with adequate points will get better seeds at offline tournaments throughout the season. Along with Call of Duty Challengers, Activision Blizzard has also revealed the Call of Duty League City Circuit – an initiative allows fans to compete on behalf of CDL franchise cities. RELATED: Call of Duty League branding and prize pool confirmed Registration for Call of Duty Challengers will open on October 30th, just in time for the launch of the online ladders on November 2nd and for the first online tournament on November 9th. Ownership groups who have invested in the CDL are currently in the process of unveiling their franchises. So far, London Royal Ravens and Dallas Empire have been announced by ReKTGlobal and Envy Gaming, respectively. Esports Insider says: An increased focus on grassroots Call of Duty is great to see after months of uncertainty. Introducing new ways to get both spectators and players involved in the CDL is good for exposure but it will be interesting to see how the community embraces such additions and changes.
