NRG Esports announces partnership with iBUYPOWER

North American organisation NRG Esports has partnered with gaming PC brand iBUYPOWER.

This deal marks iBUYPOWER’s return to sponsoring individual organisations after a stint of being involved with competitions.

Brett Lautenbach, President of NRG Esports discussed the deal in a statement: “We’re incredibly thrilled to welcome iBUYPOWER back into the esports team landscape. As with any competitive facet, fine-tuning player equipment for maximum performance is a significant priority, with iBUYPOWER, our players will get the most from their hardware—and that’s a good feeling.”

NRG’s players – who compete across Apex Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Fortnite, Hearthstone, Overwatch League, and Rocket League, among other titles – will utilise iBUYPOWER’s computers moving forward.

Darren Su, Vice President of iBUYPOWER added: “It’s exciting to be back in the competitive scene. Not only do we believe in the skill and hard work to win, but to have the latest and greatest hardware.”

NRG Esports is also partnered with Nighthawk Pro Gaming, Sneak, Sennheiser, OPSEAT, EventsDC, Ballistix Gaming, Cal Esports, Twitch, and Qualcomm.

Revenue-accelerating agency Bent Pixels launched an esports division in March, adding NRG Esports and Team SoloMid as its first clients. The agency was responsible for NRG Esports’ deal with Qualcomm so it’s not outlandish to assume that it was responsible for this partnership too.

Esports Insider says: It’s safe to say that the iBUYPOWER match-fixing scandal from a few years ago has left a long-lasting bad taste in the mouth of many, so we see this as NRG Esports somewhat taking a chance on the company with this deal. While the same situation can’t happen again, reputation is important.
