Playdigious Opens Pre-Registration for Roguelike Kingdom Builder 9 Kings on Android

9 Kings, the strategy game developed by Sad Socket, has opened pre-registration on Android. It will be published by Playdigious, which is known for porting titles such as Chants of Sennaar and Loop Hero to mobile.

Why are there Nine?

The game centres on building a kingdom capable of surviving endless threats. You get to experiment with combinations of buildings, units, spells and positioning systems that together create unpredictable outcomes.

Your job is to turn a small settlement into the most powerful kingdom among rival rulers. Expand the territory, manage resources and create powerful builds that can overwhelm opponents. There’s roguelike progression, deck-building and tower defense elements.

You grow your empire using dozens of different cards while fighting massive battles against the nine rival kings that stand in your way. Some playstyles revolve around stockpiling gold and hiring mercenaries. Others rely on manipulating nature, altering time, experimenting with dark magic or summoning large numbers of imps to overwhelm enemies.

The cards help you strategically grow your citadel, upgrade structures such as towers and buildings, and recruit troops. As runs progress, you can loot cards from defeated rival kings and add to your own deck.

Quest Mode introduces additional challenges that let you experiment further with different tactics and builds. After year 33, you can continue testing your kingdom against enemies that grow exponentially stronger.

Pre-Registration is now open for 9 Kings on Android

9 Kings was released in early access in May 2025 for Windows and macOS. Although receiving ongoing development, the title has received mostly positive reviews on Steam.

The studio behind the project, Sad Socket, is an indie developer, founded by childhood friends Rafael Melo and André Young. An early prototype of the game was nominated for Best Game at Gamescom LATAM.
