Physics-Based Game Melon Sandbox’s Creator Economy Crosses $1 Million

Melon Sandbox is a mobile sandbox title that spent last year trying to garner as much user-made content as possible. Apparently, publisher PlayDucky’s sandbox title has already paid out serious money in 2025.

Is Melon Sandbox trying to be another Roblox?

Publisher PlayDucky has said that it handed out more than $1,000,000 USD to creators in 2025 through Melon Sandbox. It worked out how it works in games like Roblox. Players make content, other players download or buy that content, and the creators get paid.

In Melon Sandbox, that content comes in the form of mods and custom experiences uploaded to an in-game Workshop. People can grab them using a currency called Mels, and some of that value eventually goes back to the mod creators.

Another revelation that PlayDucky made was that many of the top earners are under 20 years old. And a few people have managed to earn close to $80,000 just from their mods. That number is one of the main reasons the company is talking about the creator economy now.

Melon Sandbox is basically a physics playground. It uses ragdoll physics and throws players into open maps where they can experiment with objects. You can drop vehicles, explosives, weapons, tools and other items into the environment to see what kind of chaos they cause.

Inside the Workshop, you can find everything from prehistoric-themed mod packs to recreated city maps that mimic real-world locations. Others add custom Melon-style character sprites inspired by popular media, along with new weapons, items, and gadgets that change how the sandbox behaves.

PlayDucky says it reviews hundreds of thousands of mods every month while also updating the game engine and creator tools. The goal is to make building and sharing content easier so the community keeps producing new things to play with. You can find the game on the Google Play Store.
