Supercell Is Bringing a Hay Day Spin-Off Called Hay Day Match to Mobile Soon

Supercell is cooking up a new game called Hay Day Match, a Hay Day spin-off. The company has partnered with UK-based studio Playabit to develop the game. The game is going to be available on mobile soon… too soon.

According to the game’s official website, Hay Day Match will become available for download later this month in select regions. That includes India, Indonesia and the Philippines. It will be actually an early access soft launch of the game.

The rollout is time-limited and restricted to those regions. Through it, Supercell and Playabit intend to conduct an early pulse check with Hay Day players before making further decisions about the project’s future.

And why shouldn’t they? In case you don’t know, this isn’t the first time Supercell has experimented with a match puzzle spin-off under the Hay Day banner. In March 2020, the company soft-launched Hay Day Pop, another casual match-3 title based on its farming game.

That release was available in Australia, Finland and New Zealand and only on iOS. Departing from Supercell’s usual approach at the time, Hay Day Pop also included a base-building alongside match-3. Unfortunately, Hay Day Pop failed to awe players and was ultimately shut down in January 2021.

So, Hay Day Match is the second Hay Day spin-off

Not much information has been given out about this new game. It’s a match-3 puzzle game set within the Hay Day universe. Players swipe colours, solve challenges and assist a character named Mavis on her journey while uncovering secrets of the countryside.

That’s all that we know. Since it’s a match-3 puzzle game, you can expect it to have usual mechanics of the genre. What I failed to understand is if this offers anything unique (and special) as a Hay Day spin-off or if it’s any different than Hay Day Pop.
