Pokémon GO’s tenth anniversary brings ‘What’s Your Favorite?’

Niantic has kicked off Pokémon GO’s tenth anniversary alongside a 30th anniversary ad for the Pokémon franchise. It aired during Super Bowl LX, delving into nostalgia and fandom. The best part is that it features well-known faces talking about their favorite Pokémon.

Through the ad, The Pokémon Company International brought together celebrity fans such as Lady Gaga, Trevor Noah, Charles Leclerc, Jisoo, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Lamine Yamal, and Young Miko. Each of them tells about their personal favorite mon.

Lady Gaga chose Jigglypuff for its 12-octave vocal range and playful spirit. Meanwhile comedian and TV host Trevor Noah talked about Psyduck and its quirky blend of confusion and psychic potential. For the rest of the celeb favourites, watch the video below.

The ad is basically for the new camera-focused feature in Pokémon GO called What’s Your Favorite? You can take photos with almost all Pokémon in the game, including Pokémon you haven’t yet caught. You can also share your creations online with the hashtag #Pokemon30.

Meanwhile, there are tons of new incentives for the new tool

Players who are completely new and have never created a Pokémon GO account can try the feature and unlock a Special Research mission. Completing it leads to an encounter with Gengar, along with 100 PokéCoins and 30 Poké Balls.
